Guéyo will soon have modern hydraulic infrastructure. The National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (BNETD), the technical reference body of the Ivorian State, is responsible for project management of the project to strengthen the drinking water supply of the city and its surrounding localities. This project involves the laying of more than 100 kilometers of supply and distribution pipes, associated with production, storage and distribution works. With a production capacity set at 14,000 m³ of water per day, the project will guarantee a sustainable supply to more than 30 localities in the Guéyo basin. This scale is comparable to recent projects carried out in Toumodi, where similar infrastructures increased local production to 17,000 m³/day to serve more than 100,000 inhabitants.
This project reflects the ambition of the Ivorian government to increase the rate of access to drinking water to 100% throughout the territory national by 2030. The Guéyo project thus constitutes an essential link in the national strategy of the National Drinking Water Office (ONEP), which aims to ensure continuous service to all Ivorians by 2040.
