Confidence does not exclude control, the Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation and Health, Dr Amédé Koffi Kouakou, traveled to immerse himself in the realities of the Bonoua 1 and 2 water treatment plants. These are among the most important works structuring of the national drinking water production network in Côte d'Ivoire. With an overall capacity of 160,000 m³ per day, spread over 36 boreholes, these infrastructures ensure the supply of drinking water to the populations of Abidjan South and Grand-Bassam, two cities experiencing strong demographic growth whose water needs continue to increase. This ministerial visit is part of the dynamic driven by Dr. Amédé Koffi Kouakou since he took office within the Mambé II government in January 2026.

Like his previous visits to the field, notably at the Anyama-Débarcadère factory in February 2026, the Minister hears personally ensure the proper functioning of equipment and the continuity of public water service. On site, the Minister and the delegation were able to assess the operational state of the installations and identify possible areas for improvement. This local approach reflects the Ivorian government's desire to accelerate universal access to drinking water, one of the priorities of the National Development Plan.

Note that ONEP, a public operator under the supervision of the ministry, plays a key role in the management of these infrastructures, alongside local actors committed to the sustainability of the service.
