It is in the wake of the government's industrialization policy that the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Ibrahim Kalil Konaté set foot on the soil of the industrial zone (ZI) of Yopougon, this Wednesday. This field visit is part of the dynamic supported by the National Development Plan 2026-2030, which aims to increase the share of industry in GDP from 22.7% to 30%. At the heart of this inspection are two flagship projects. namely the construction of a new steelworks and the establishment of a green cement production unit.
Investments amount to nearly 200 billion CFA francs, embodying the rise of the Universal Industrie group as a key player in national economic transformation. For Minister Konaté, whose roadmap includes industrial development as a “gateway to commerce”, these achievements concretely illustrate the growing attractiveness of Côte d'Ivoire to investors private. Since his appointment, he has increased the number of field visits to remove obstacles to the establishment of businesses and accelerate the development of industrial zones.
Note that these structuring projects demonstrate a clear ambition. Make Abidjan a regional industrial hub capable of generating sustainable jobs and strengthening the competitiveness of the productive fabric, by locally transforming national resources with high added value.
