Côte d'Ivoire reaches a major industrial milestone with the commissioning of its first sugar cane distillery in Ferkéssédougou, in the north of the country. Located on the SUCAF-CI site in Ferké 2, this infrastructure represents an investment of 18 billion FCFA and will generate nearly 12 million liters of 96-degree alcohol per year. Beyond production, the project will generate more than 400 direct jobs and fully promote sugar cane, thus improving the income of local producers. This initiative strengthens local transformation and illustrates the country's desire to consolidate its economic sovereignty. For the Ivorian industry, this project marks a rise in the power of the national agro-industry, notably the dependence on imports of alcoholic products and positioning Côte d'Ivoire as a regional player in agricultural processing.
