Dr Souleymane Diarrassouba, Governor of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for Côte d'Ivoire, held a bilateral audience with Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, head of the Islamic Development Bank Group. At the heart of the exchanges, the consolidation of a strategic partnership which is already bearing fruit. With an active portfolio estimated at $2.2 billion, covering 22 operations in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture and human capital, Côte d'Ivoire asserts itself as one of the institution's privileged partners.
The IDB, whose cumulative commitments in favor of Abidjan are around 3.9 billion dollars, making it the Bank's first portfolio in sub-Saharan Africa, now intends to take a new step. The two parties agreed to deepen their cooperation around three structuring axes, namely the maturity of projects, the strengthening of absorption capacities and the improvement of the quality of execution. Challenges that Minister Diarrassouba himself identified during the portfolio review organized in Abidjan in May 2026. On behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E Alassane OUATTARA, an official invitation was given to Dr Al Jasser to take part in the Consultative Group on July 8 and 9, 2026 in Abidjan, a crucial meeting for the mobilization of PND financing 2026-2030.
Note that this tête-à-tête in Baku confirms the upward trajectory of a partnership which, after 25 years of cooperation, is reinventing itself in the service of the inclusive development ambitions of Côte d'Ivoire.
