It was on the banks of the Congo River, on the sidelines of the annual high mass of the African Development Bank (AfDB), that a decisive meeting was held. The Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Souleymane Diarrassouba, and the Director General of Africa50, Alain Ebobissé, led a working meeting on May 28, 2026 in Brazzaville, outlining the outlines of an ambitious cooperation between Abidjan and this institution whose portfolio today exceeds eight billion dollars. Two energy projects were at the heart of the discussions, to which was added an electricity transmission project (IPT), a mechanism for connecting networks and securing supply on a regional scale. Africa50, which invests in equity and quasi-equity alongside strategic partners, is experienced in this type of arrangement.

The transport aspect also caught the attention of both parties. An asset recycling program involving roads, bridges and hydraulic dams was examined, an approach which consists of selling existing infrastructure to private investors to free up public resources and finance new projects, a mechanism that Africa50 has already successfully tested on the continent. This dynamic is part of the trajectory of Africa50 which, since its creation by the AfDB, aims to fill the annual deficit of 170 billion dollars necessary to finance African infrastructure.  class="ql-cursor">
